1. Statement of Intent
U Lead The Way is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all clients, including children and vulnerable adults.
We take safeguarding seriously and aim to ensure that all individuals attending sessions feel safe, respected, and supported.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:

Adult clients

Children attending with parents or guardians
-
Vulnerable adults
-
Anyone attending group classes, one-to-one sessions, or events
3. Roles and Responsibilities
U Lead The Way is a dog training service and is not a childcare provider.

Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times
-
Dog owners are responsible for their dog’s behaviour and control
-
The trainer will take reasonable steps to maintain a safe environment
4. Supervision of Children

Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times

Children must remain with their parent/guardian during sessions
-
Children should be supported to behave safely around dogs
-
U Lead The Way does not provide childcare
5. Safety Around Dogs

Dogs must be handled by a responsible adult
-
Dogs must remain on lead unless instructed otherwise
-
Owners/handlers are responsible for their dog’s behaviour at all times
-
Please give other dogs space unless invited to interact

Any dog showing signs of distress or unsafe behaviour may be asked to move away or leave the session if necessary

The trainer may intervene if there is a safety concern
6. Safeguarding Concerns
U Lead The Way takes all safeguarding concerns seriously.
If a concern arises:

It will be listened to respectfully

Relevant information may be recorded

Appropriate action will be taken where necessary
If there is a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable adult, this may be reported to the appropriate safeguarding authority.
7. Confidentiality

Personal information will be treated with respect and kept confidential

Information will only be shared if there is a safeguarding concern or legal obligation
8. Behaviour and Conduct
All attendees are expected to:

Treat others with respect

Follow guidance during sessions

Behave in a way that supports a safe environment
Unsafe or inappropriate behaviour may result in being asked to leave.
